LEAH BASS-BAYLIS
Leah Bass-Baylis is the Dance Adviser for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she develops and implements
standards-based dance curriculum, instruction and assessment for grades K-12. She works to bring members of the educational,
concert and entertainment dance communities together in an effort to provide equal access to dance for all. She acted as a
dancer and choreographer in New York for more than a decade, choreographing shows such as Little Shop of Horrors and
Ain't Misbehavin' and assisted such choreographers as Henry LeTang, Hinton Battle, Michael Peters, Bick Goss and
Alan Weeks. She has been the recipient of the Los Angeles Mayor's Apple Award and the Spotlight Award, given by Loyola
Marymount University, for contributions to dance education throughout the Los Angeles area.
