“Keeping the motion in motion pictures”
TOM HATTEN
Tom Hatten is fast approaching his 50th year in broadcasting in Southern California and his variety of
employment is perhaps unique compared to that of any other currently working actor… or television host… or concert
promoter… or special material musical writer… or cartoonist… or legit theatre performer… or (at the moment) twice daily
commentator on whatever comes to his mind regarding show business (plays, TV, movies, books, obits) as the Entertainment
Editor for KNX Newsradio.
This current job began in 1986 and has won him 3 LA Press Club awards and 2 Golden Mikes.
A cum Laude graduate from the famed Pasadena Playhouse in 1950, he landed at KTLA-TV Channel 5 two years later, was assigned
the station's "Adventures of Popeye" (hosting cartoons) for a six year run in 1956, and introduced and talked
about movies on its Family Film Festival for 14 years commencing in 1975.
He has performed in several TV shows, motion pictures and even on Broadway as President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the
highly successful production of Annie. He also briefly toured nationally with the show.
